Public Assets 2, Privatisation 0 - Queenslanders know the score

A majority of Queenslanders remain convinced that public assets should remain in public hands, unions say.

Queensland Council of Unions General Secretary Ros McLennan said recent comments from former Premiers about revisiting privatisation were out of touch with public opinion.

“Queenslanders made their voice heard not once, but twice, about wanting to retain public ownership of revenue-generating public assets, like electricity and ports.

“Peter Beattie is lucky he resigned as Premier when he did or he may have suffered the same fate as Anna Bligh and Campbell Newman,” Ms McLennan said.
