When public sector jobs and conditions are cut, essential services for the Australian community suffer.
Centrelink calls are unanswered, critical CSIRO research is cancelled and customs and quarantine are under more pressure.
Tony Abbott has cut more than 17, 300 jobs since taking office.
And now Mr Abbott is using public sector bargaining toattack jobs, rights and conditions at work.
Right now, millions of flyers about our campaign for fair pay and conditions are being distributed around the country in airports, national parks, libraries, Centrelink and Medicare offices, and other government shopfronts. In some agencies, CPSU members are taking our message to clients over the phone.
Australian people need to be aware of the government’s attack on its own workforce and how this attack will affect the services they rely on. We need your help to take our campaign into our communities.
At the beginning of September the CPSU is increasing its community action by letterboxing households in Townsville.
Can you help distribute as many leaflets as possible?
Can you give 2 to 3 hours of your time on one of these days:
- Sunday 6 September 2015 @ 9am -12pm
We will be letterboxing households with CPSU material that includes a request that community members sign a petition in support of public sector bargaining.
